Why You Shouldn’t Drink from Plastic Bottles Anymore if You Care About Your Blood Pressure

Drinking from plastic bottles might be hazardous to your health, while opting for tap water could be a lifesaver. A recent study in the journal Microplastics revealed that consuming plastic bottle water can raise blood pressure due to microplastics entering the bloodstream. These tiny plastic particles, prevalent in our food and water, can infiltrate cell barriers in the intestines and lungs, spreading throughout the body. In 2018, microplastic exposure, linked by the Mayo Clinic to heart issues, hormone imbalances, and cancer, burdened the healthcare system with $289 billion in costs. To mitigate this risk, separate research suggests that boiling and filtering tap water can reduce microplastics by nearly 90%.
