We weren’t quite sure what the upcoming biopic “Saturday Night” was about exactly, other than the vague idea of early Saturday Night Live. But it’s now clear that this movie takes place during the chaotic lead up to the very first broadcast of the show on October 11th, 1975. Which makes the film’s release date of October 11, 2024 make a lot of sense – considering this very much is not a horror movie. Maybe some of the real people remember it that way, though.

As with all biopics, expect a certain level of authenticity wrapped up in dramatization. What is clear is the level of talent in the cast they’ve assembled. What is the very best classic SNL sketch?
